Hey there! A friend told me about this website, so I thought I would give it a shot. I recently moved to Keego Harbor and am loving having my own place. I like to have a good time. I try not to take myself too seriously. My life is nothing like I imagined it would be at this point, but I wouldn't change it for anything. I have a great family, and the best friends in the world. I have a very random sense of humor. I find lots of different things funny. I am by no means racist, chauvanistic, homophobic.... whatever I might be considered, but I may laugh at a joke told to me in one of those categories. Why? Because I thought it was funny. No more, no less. My humor can involve crossing alot of lines, pushing that extra button, jabbing a finger in your rib. It can range from intellectual high brow humor and quickly switch to poop and fart jokes. God bless variety.

I'm into computers, I would very easily be considered a computer geek. I've been using them since the old DOS days. I'm also into sports. I wrestled in high school, I play Wallyball on a regular basis (Wallyball is essentially Volleyball in a racquetball court) I like playing Volleyball, and I would like to start playing tennis. I believe that the quality which can most impart the best understanding of myself is how I think; more precisely, the framework in how I attempt to understand the world and my role in it.

Before I describe my framework, I wish to describe the idea of a framework. The framework is to understanding as a theory is to a problem. A caveat to this is that besides the fact that the description that follows is only part of my framework, a framework is intrinsically a dynamic process. I do hope however that upon the completion of this paper I have effectively communicated what and why I believe this is intrinsic.

Generally, it is acknowledged that the world is filled with different people and different ideas, and for society to exist there must be standards; a general understanding of unique ideas. These two ideas have consumed much of my reflection, and in essence capture the extent of the problems that are all too real to everyone.

Conflict arises from disagreements, and to disagree there must be a difference of a particular idea that was originally held to be standard. Communication is used to facilitate resolution in such conflicts. It is the attempt to convey a specific idea from one mind to another mind and effective communication is when this is successfully achieved.

A recent example is the publishing of controversial cartoons and the ensuing debates of whether or not this is an issue of "free speech ."

The conflict and differences in idea of what the standard actually is, idea which free speech attempts to capture, and what the socially constructed standard is, idea which free speech has captured, are clearly seen here. Take an issue regarding free speech for example, is the cartoon in the realm of free speech? The two differences of opinions, for sake of simplicity two, represent the differences of what the individuals believe actual free speech to be, as opposed to what the socially constructed accepted standard of free speech is.

While I believe that communication plays an important role in resolving conflicts it is by no means sufficient, and in fact more vital to correctly prescribe the situation as a conflict in a difference of standards. This may seem self-evident as it seems a pre-requisite to communication, but it was not self evident to myself until recently. Initially I saw black and white, and then I saw gray. As I experienced more of the world, neither regurgitation of what I was told nor the regurgitation of their particulars seemed to satisfy me.

I am not satisfied with a world in which all ideas can be neatly boxed in static standards, regardless if all the particulars. Instead my position is that ideas, seemingly ethereal, are captured for the sake of a functioning society in the form of dynamic standards that are consistently being tested. And why do I believe that the ability to recognize this as truth is more important then communication itself? The ability to realize that communication is really a process which involves an active translation between at least 4 languages ( i.e. what ideas are, what my standards are, what socially constructed standards are, and what your standards are) will better facilitate effective communication as opposed to simply speaking within the language of socially constructed standards.

That is why I believe that framework, as all "standard" words are intrinsically dynamic. It also leads me to my final statement; my role in the world is to support and reject "standards" in hopes of actualizing ideas in order to reduce conflict. I believe that the study of law will aid my efforts in this endeavor.

Well, keep reading because you might just find out what really makes me tick. On any normal day after getting home from work I like to just sit back and relax. I'll grab a nice refreshing beverage, surf the web for a bit, watch some TV, play some 360-you know whatever. On those not so normal days I like to do a little bit of everything.
